APOLLONIA WISH LIST
People often ask us: How can I support Apollonia’s sail freight work if I don’t live along your voyage route - and I don’t need to ship or receive any cargo by wind? Here’s how - support any one of these practical things that keep us sailing by making a donation.
Cargo Trailer Towbar Component
Replacing a key element of the towbar in our cargo trailer (which we use with our solar-powered e-assist cargo bike) helps us continue to do sustainable first- and last-mile work in our ports of call. We would plan to source this from local provider Revolution X, a small business operating in NYC and the Hudson Valley that assists us with certain last-mile cargo bike deliveries. Donation to support this item is not tax deductible.
Running Rigging + Dock Lines
Our lines have done a lot to keep Apollonia in good form since 2020. To ensure the ship’s sail freight work continues, we will need to replace lines. Halyards ($600 apiece), sheets ($300 apiece), and dock lines ($125 apiece) all help keep our sails operational and our vessel safely docked. Donations to support the replacement of lines are not tax deductible.
Crew Reward Meal (June, Sept., Oct. Voyages)
Instead of fuel, we pay people - and buy their food! Our crew cooks in the galley aboard Apollonia across cargo voyages. But halfway through a two-week voyage…it’s nice to have a meal and a drink at a restaurant as a reward for hard work - while taking stock of the work to come. So if you feel like showing the crew some love, here’s one way to do it. Donation to support any crew meal is not tax deductible.
